Audience Aspects - Rosie

Audience

When deciding what type of film we were going to create, the main factor we needed to take into account was our target audience. We decided in the genre of Horror, but when designing the storyboard, the audience needed to be considered when choosing what to include. Different age groups would prefer different things in a film, so when we decided on creating a horror that would appeal to a teenage/young adult audience; we included effects, ideas and props that would appeal to us as we are the target audience.

Props/ideas/effects was an important aspect we could work on when designing the opening scene because we would include props that include modern technology, appealing to our age group, such as a mobile phone, ideas/situations such as being in the house alone at night when the parents are out and a boyfriend. By using these, it’s easier to attract the target audience with subjects that appeal to them. Also, by using a young girl that is in the age group of our target audience, it helps to catch the attention of the audience as they could see themselves in similar situations, making the story feel more life-like. We need to also consider effects that need to be included that follow similar codes and conventions that are common in most horror films. Our analysis has helped us to look at these codes and conventions and consider the effective ones that appeal to usm then to be included in the story board.
